conference conference 2

The Association of Christian Therapeutic Schools and Services (ACTSAS) was founded this week at a gathering of therapeutic schools. The 2-day conference was in Seale, Alabama at the Teen Challenge International Conference Center, attended by 25 therapeutic organizations. A second conference was held a week later in Tucson, Arizona at the Arizona Training Center for Teen Challenge U.S.A.

The purpose of ACTSAS is to provide standards and verification of those standards for member organizations as a means of providing assurance to future residents or users of those services. Other purposes of the association include providing a structure for cooperatively deal with issues that can adversely affect member organizations, as well as a platform for training, idea sharing and encouragement to member organizations.

As ACTSAS is developed, the Ten Standards will be developed and voted on by current members, and a management team and leadership council will be put in place. Volunteers, staff and member organizations will participate in assuring that other members are adhering to the association’s standards. Also, spot checks will be made among parents who have placed a loved one in member organizations.
